Created for the Year of the Snake Spring Festival celebrations, this substantial 1,295-piece model recreates a traditional Chinese trotting lantern as a colourful centrepiece filled with light, movement and miniature festive scenes.
At the heart of the lantern is a LEGO® light brick. Press down on the rotating central column to switch on the light, then turn the column to direct it through the lantern. Two interchangeable silhouette windows create different illuminated effects, bringing the traditional shadow-lantern idea into LEGO® form.
But the beautiful exterior hides an entire celebration inside.
Remove the top and unfold the upper tier to reveal 3 minifigure-scale Spring Festival scenes: a food stall, a decorations stall and a traditional shadow theatre.
The set includes 5 LEGO® minifigures — 2 adults, 2 children and a character dressed in a Year of the Snake costume — turning the decorative lantern into a miniature Lunar New Year celebration filled with family and tradition.
At approximately 23 cm high and 21 cm in diameter, the finished lantern has enough presence to become a genuine centrepiece on a dining table, sideboard or display shelf rather than simply another small LEGO® model.
