Blast back to the golden age of LEGO® Space with the LEGO® Ideas Micro Command Center, a wonderfully nostalgic miniature space base packed with retro sci-fi charm.
Built from 214 pieces, the model combines the unmistakable blue-and-yellow look of classic LEGO® Space with a detailed little command centre. Explore the railway tracks and platform, control tower with removable roof, shuttle, radar, solar panel and miniature control screens — all squeezed into a compact display measuring approximately 14 cm high, 16 cm wide and 15 cm deep.
A tiny space character can sit inside either the shuttle or the command office, bringing the whole miniature base to life.
But the story behind this set makes it especially interesting.
Micro Command Center 40786 began as a fan-created design and won first place in the LEGO® Ideas “Exploring the Cosmos” design contest. Rather than launching as a normal mass-market LEGO® set, it originally became available in 2025 through the LEGO® Insiders Rewards Centre, where members needed 2,250 Insiders points to redeem it.
That unusual origin makes it a particularly fun gift for a longtime LEGO® fan — especially someone who remembers the classic Space sets of the 1980s or enjoys promotional LEGO® releases that have a story beyond the ordinary toy-store shelf.
With its retro colours, miniature railway and tiny space base, it also makes a brilliant desk display for a space, science or technology fan who might never normally think of buying LEGO® for themselves.
