LEGO® Escape from the Lost Tomb 77013 takes fans back to the original Raiders of the Lost Ark, recreating the dangerous search for the Ark of the Covenant inside an ancient Egyptian tomb filled with traps, statues, snakes and more than a few unpleasant surprises.

At the centre of the 600-piece set is a substantial brick-built temple with two towering statues, creating an instantly recognizable setting for one of Indiana Jones’ most famous adventures.

And naturally, the tomb is crawling with snakes.

There are snakes scattered across the floor and even more that can be pushed through a wall, recreating exactly the kind of situation Indiana Jones would rather avoid.

But the reptiles are only the beginning.

One of the temple’s large Anubis statues can topple forward and smash through a wall, revealing a hidden passage concealed behind the ancient structure.

And waiting inside that secret passage is a mummy, ready to give the escaping adventurers one more surprise before they can make it out of the tomb.

It is a wonderfully classic Indiana Jones combination: ancient ruins, hidden passages, collapsing scenery, snakes and supernatural-looking discoveries, all packed into a single interactive temple build.

Then there is the treasure everyone is searching for.

The set includes the legendary Ark of the Covenant, placing one of the most important objects from Raiders of the Lost Ark directly at the heart of the scene.

For fans of the film, that detail immediately gives 77013 more significance than a generic archaeological adventure.

This is not simply an Egyptian temple inspired by Indiana Jones — it is a LEGO® recreation of the Well of Souls sequence built around the search for the Ark itself.

The character lineup is equally strong.

The box includes 4 LEGO® minifigures: Indiana Jones, Marion Ravenwood, Sallah and a mummy. Indiana comes complete with his famous fedora and whip, giving the set the unmistakable look of the original movie adventure.

That gives collectors three central Raiders of the Lost Ark characters together in one set, while the mummy adds another figure dedicated specifically to the tomb scene.

At over 16 cm high, 22 cm wide and 21 cm deep, the finished temple is large enough to create a substantial display while remaining compact enough to fit comfortably on a shelf alongside the other Indiana Jones sets from the range.

The open design also keeps the details visible.

Indiana, Marion and Sallah can be positioned around the tomb, the Ark can remain at the centre of the display and the collapsing statue and hidden passage give the model more life than a static movie diorama.

Released in 2023, LEGO® Escape from the Lost Tomb 77013 is now officially listed by LEGO® as a retired product, meaning its regular production run has ended.

That is particularly notable with the modern Indiana Jones theme.

77013 was released alongside Fighter Plane Chase 77012 and Temple of the Golden Idol 77015, making it part of a very compact LEGO® Indiana Jones lineup rather than one of dozens of continuously available sets.

For collectors who missed that return of the theme, each retired set represents a different iconic piece of the original films — and Escape from the Lost Tomb is the one centred around the Ark of the Covenant and one of Raiders’ most famous scenes.

It also occupies a nice middle ground between the smaller vehicle-focused Fighter Plane Chase and the much larger Temple of the Golden Idol.

With 600 pieces, four minifigures, a major movie artefact and several interactive features, 77013 has enough substance to work as a standalone Indiana Jones display without becoming an enormous build.
